The Importance of the Water We Consume and Bathe In

One very important foundational health habit we can get into, is to make sure the water we consume and bathe in is contaminant free (heavy metals, cysts, chemicals, bacteria, fluoride, chlorine etc).

Fundamentally speaking, a healthy lifestyle consists of two main dietary practices:

  1. Making sure we are consuming the good, pure, health building things our bodies need to be healthy and strong.
  2. Eliminating toxins, poisons and pollutants from our diet and environment that work against the body.

The most important dietary factor we expose ourselves to on a daily basis (next to the air that we breathe), is the water we drink (and bathe in). Our bodies are composed mainly of water and it's important to hydrate them with pure, clean, healthy water. We tend to forget that main reasons we no longer suffer from many of the bacterial and infectious diseases we fell prey to at the turn of the century has to do with water purification, sanitary living conditions, personal hygiene and more effective sewage and waste disposal methods. We used to get diseases from contaminated water and unsanitary living conditions and many 3rd world cultures still struggle with this problem.

Chlorine - The Two Edged Sword

Chlorine is in 100% of municipal (city) tap water in the United States. About 22% of water districts use chloramine, a corrosive combination of chlorine and ammonia. Chlorine is a recognized carcinogen, and is known to irritate the eyes (red, itchy eyes are common), soft tissues and mucous membranes of the nose and lungs, and exacerbate allergies and asthma symptoms. However Chlorine also keeps bacteria, virus and fungus out of the water we drink which is a good thing.

Drinking or bathing in chlorinated water is a bad thing! It destroys friendly bacteria we need for proper nutrient assimilation in our digestive system and is absorbed into the body through the skin when we shower or bathe in it so ideally...

Filter the Chlorine & Floride out of our drinking/bathing water

It's rarely one isolated thing that destroys our health. Often it's a combination of many factors that affect us from multiple different directions. Like the old game "the straw that broke the camels back". many things add up.

Notice: Drinking distilled and reverse osmosis water is ok but because there are no minerals in these types of water it becomes even more important to supplement with trace minerals!
